God Bless Grade One

Over the Easter break I was looking for something to read. Amongst my favourite books I found 'God Bless Grade One', the book that you can see pictured above. This Book was put together whilst I was in grade one, two years ago, and is very special to me because every child in our grade one class wrote a prayer in our own words and had our prayer entered into the book. Most of us had one or two spelling mistakes, but that was fine because our teacher,Mrs Jane, wanted the book to be from our heart, and for us to concentrate more on our feelings as we wrote down our prayers, so it was not a problem if our spelling was not perfect. The important thing was that we write down our honest and heartfelt thoughts. In fact, Mrs Jane had the book published and all the entries in the book were kept in the students own words and handwriting with a note that Mrs Jane provided at the bottom of the page clarifying what each student had written. The book was launched and put on sale to the public at the Kinokuniya Bookstore, Plaza Senayan. Later, when I was in grade two, I had the privilege of meeting the President of Indonesia, Mr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the National Library and we presented a copy of 'God Bless Grade One' for the President to keep.
